More than 4,500 participants took to the streets of Cork last Sunday for the 44th Echo Women’s Mini Marathon. Among the sea of colour and energy, the Crann Centre fielded its largest-ever group of women and girls (and a few men in disguise) who ran, walked and rolled the 6km course and have raised a whopping €13,000.
A standout story from the day was the incredible effort by the Fitton family, who rallied in admiration of their daughter Leah, a regular Crann Centre service attendee. Her family, including relatives from abroad, joined forces to fundraise for Crann, describing the centre as a “second family” and one of Leah’s “happy places”. Their dedication and heartfelt story captured the spirit of the marathon, showing how community and compassion can drive meaningful change. The Fitton’s efforts have raised over €6,000, ranking 2nd overall in team fundraisers! Take a look at their fundraiser here – there’s still time to donate!
We’re so grateful to everyone who donned their Crann shirts and took the streets of Cork with us again this year – fundraiser or not, everyone who comes out to support Crann has a vital role to play in raising funds and helping us reach more families living with neuro-physical disabilities in Munster!
