We’re proud to use the 2Gen Model of Care, which supports the whole family. Crann is the first organisation in Ireland – and one of the first globally – to apply the 2Gen whole-family approach in a disability context. We have been making informed decisions based on research findings since 2016.
In October 2024, in collaboration with our partners University College Cork, we held the first of two Living Lab workshops with professionals from across the disability sector. In February 2025, we held the second with people who have lived and living experience of disability. Each workshop has guided us through sector-wide insights and personal lived experiences, shaping our strategic direction:
We offer a strong foundation for meaningful research, including long-term data and tracking, tools to help evaluate programmes, real-life testing through our Living Lab, a Research Project Management Office (RPMO), and ethical support through our university partners.

When Dr. Alice Moore, Lecturer and Researcher at UCC School of Occupational Therapy, began research into designing the Playground and Leisure space, it was obvious that families’ needs would direct it. She describes how this can be a blueprint for future inclusive playgrounds.
