Nurse and Community Carer courses are designed by our disability nurse specialists to help you to address the needs of children and adults with disabilities in the community.
NOTE: Courses listed below as “In house” can only be offered at our centre in Ballincollig. Online options are also available on some selected courses.

This comprehensive 6-hour course provides the theory and knowledge required to safely carry out CIC in the community. Our practical, hands-on workshop will give you the confidence required to carry out this new skill.

This course combines the skills of Trans Anal Irrigation with management for Antegrade Colonic Enema. This combined course is a full day training session.

This comprehensive 4-hour course provides the theory and knowledge required to manage neurogenic bowel dysfunction for individuals with Spinal Cord Injury. Including a practical demo, this course aims to give nurses the confidence to safely manage neurogenic bowel dysfunction in the community.
Special Needs Assistants (SNAs), Teachers, AIMs workers, Social Care Workers, Personal Assistants, Home Support Workers and Care Assistants.

Theory Only (online) – €50pp

This 2-hour course details how pressure ulcers develop, strategies to help prevent them and how to identify and manage the early signs of pressure ulcer development.

A 3.5-hour programme covering inclusive language, dignity and respect. It covers strategies to help reduce barriers to social inclusion and addressing health needs in community settings.
Cost: €45pp (in-house at Crann only)
This 1/2 day course in manual handling is tailored for those supporting people with disabilities. The instructor is a FETAC QQI Level 6 qualified instructor (Hoist training is not included.)
Cost: €60pp (in-house at Crann only)
This 6 hour course in patient moving and handling covers the theory of manual handling and demonstrates use of hoist. Certificate of attendance issued. The instructor is a FETAC QQI Level 6 qualified instructor.
