Can you tell me a tiny bit about your background?
My name is Pauline O Neill. I’m a mom of four children. Married to Terry. My children are my life. Sarah is 27, Terry Jr is 22, Ciara is 20, and Cathal is 15. Cathal was born with Spina Bifida that’s where our connection with Crann came from. My older children are devoted to their brother and are always ready to help out.
I am currently back at work as an accounts assistant and loving it.
How did you find out about Crann?
I found out about Crann at a committee meeting with Cork Spina Bifida and was very excited as it sounded like somebody cared for our kids with spina bifida.
What made you want to volunteer at the Crann Centre?
The community feeling, a place to talk and be listened to. The opportunity to make friends with other families that just get what it’s like. To help create a place that not only a child/adult with spina bifida but their family’s needs are assisted.
What has been your most memorable volunteering experience at Crann?
The biggest and most powerful moment for me was our show and the confidence our kids showed on stage. I loved every minute of it from start to finish. Helping with sets and making costumes. I had some sneaky tears when it was all over.
