Hello everyone. Today I would like to tell you about a recent speechcraft course I participated in.

I have always loved sharing my personal perspective on a range of topics to motivate others, and this course truly allowed me to bring that passion to the next level.

I learned how to really connect with an audience to get the most out of a speech. I do a monthly blog for the Crann Centre which supports families with a range of congenital, progressive and acquired neuro-physical disabilities. This blog, along with my advocacy work was only the beginning of me truly discovering how much my voice would truly be my superpower and the skill that will get me furthest in life.

One of the most noticeable benefits of delivering a speech is that you can add emotion to connect with the audience on a deeper level. Emotion is important as it allows the audience to get a proper understanding of  how much a topic means to me. Emotional development is an essential skill for life. Emotional development allows people to express how they feel, which not only helps a person themselves, it also helps family friends and the wider community to be better equipped to support us.

I’m so glad I participated in this course. My ability to articulate my views with the world is a quality I’m privileged to have been given. The course allowed me an additional opportunity to do what I do best. Personal development is one of my biggest values in life. I love challenging myself and taking things one step further and this course allowed me to do just that.

In my journalism, podcasting and radio course which I completed in November 2025, I was made aware of the importance of networking and the valuable benefits it can bring. This course also ticked that box for me. I had the opportunity to meet new people, listen to personal stories and, most importantly, learn from one another. Learning from one another is what networking is all about. My confidence has grown since joining the course. It is a course that has spoke to me and reminded me to keep believing in myself, to never stop challenging myself and to always progress further.

My passion to keep learning has been a common theme throughout all of my speeches, and coincidently it is the 5-a-day for positive wellbeing. I would like to thank everyone who has played a part in making my speechcraft journey so fulfilling. I would like to sincerely thank my friend Lisa Kelleher for inviting me to the course. Thank you for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to challenge myself. Thank you to my mentors for the amazing support and advice. Thank you to each and every one of the participants for allowing me to listen to your stories. I know you all have amazing futures ahead and going back to the essential ingredients for positive wellbeing, I encourage you all to keep connecting, keep learning and always remember to never stop believing in yourself.

Thank you!
