“Hello My name is Hannah O’Sullivan. I am 20 years old and I am a full time wheelchair user. I have cerebral palsy. I would like to tell you about a recent and positive outing I experienced with friends and support workers.

It was a trip to Inch beach Co. Kerry to explore and experience the beach wheelchairs.

The beach wheelchair allowed me to view a whole beach and have the same opportunity as everyone else who does not have difficulties with mobility. This felt very important to me and it is something I really value, the simple things that can be altered to suit my differences and promote an inclusive society to the best extent possible. The beach wheelchair was also water inclusive, meaning I could be pushed deep in to the water while sitting in the beach wheelchair. I do have access to a beach wheelchair in my local area and have used it every summer for the past few years but being able to view a different beach with different sand textures and stones etc was really enjoyable

Thank you to the staff in Enable Ireland Kerry adult services for supporting my friends and I to have such an enjoyable experience and thank you to Kerry County Council for making the beach wheelchair available.
