The Murphy family featured on RTÉ Nationwide for International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2025, sharing their experience of raising their son Dáithí, who has Cerebral Palsy, and the support they have received through Crann.
Like many families, Caroline and Andrew Murphy found themselves navigating a complex journey following Dáithí’s diagnosis. They travelled extensively to access specialist services and support while raising their four active boys.
When the family connected with Crann, our focus was not only on supporting Dáithí, but on supporting the whole family. Through our 2Generation Model of Care, we work with children and adults living with neuro-physical disabilities while also providing support for parents, siblings and carers.
For the Murphys, having access to services closer to home meant less time spent travelling and more time together as a family. Their story reflects what we see every day: when families have the right support, they are better equipped to manage challenges, build confidence and focus on achieving their goals.
We are grateful to the Murphy family for sharing their story and helping to raise awareness of the realities faced by families living with disability. Their experience highlights why we are committed to providing accessible, family-centred support for people living with neuro-physical disabilities across Munster.
