Crann were delighted to be chosen by University College Cork’s Black Stone Launch Pad Business Ideas Generation challenge. Crann shared their challenges and the daily struggles of those with Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus. Jerry O’Regan gave insights into how his son Darragh lives his life and some of the practical challenges he faces in a wheelchair. Sarah Dullea spoke of her work as a self employed Beauty Therapist relying on public transport living in a West Cork town. The students then had to come up with business solutions. The student brainstormed and presented to the judging panel chaired by Mark O’Sullivan CEO of Provest Private Clients. Two of the teams were chosen as winners with prizes sponsored by Bank of Ireland – Travel Access whose idea was for an innovative APP to identify wheelchair friendly accommodation and Health Revolution who had a hi-tech solution to the design of orthotics.
Our CEO Padraig invited the 5 teams to take their ideas to Crann where they can further develop their ideas. We hope that the ideas which the students have developed can be taken further into working solutions.
Reflecting on the day Padraig said “It was great to work with such talented enthusiastic people who have a new found commitment to Crann and to the people who use our services”.
